“Fabulous. Pity my South African wildlife book didn’t have a section on waterborne bugs so I could have at least identified what was swimming about in my water.”

High point – Watching the Milky Way through a sand-storm on the final night

Low point – Water fleas in his snood

“Terrifying, painful, knackering, exhausting and relentless. Hated pretty much every moment but I’m glad I did it.”

High – The water boys + getting upgraded on the flight out and sitting next to Francois Pienar

Low – First 100m descent

Jennet

I was looking forward to 5 days of scintillating chat, interesting stories, strategising about the future of Marsh Multinational, how wrong I was. Kevin jibbered for the whole walk. Martin swallowed his final word at the top of the sheer drop the walk started with & basically the next thing to come out of his mouth was 5 days later as we staggered over the finish line – ‘well thank f*ck that’s over’.

In addition, I’m going to be put off beach holidays for life – every time I step onto sand I’m going to have sort of PTSD episode”

High – The Fire & the finish line + actually just Cape Town

Low – First night

Kevin

“It was harder than I remembered.

I will never forget that orange”

High – Fire & rum (and EVERYTHING!)

Low – First morning following Martin down into the Canyon
